Microbes are minuscule but powerful organisms; they have been responsible for some of the greatest decimations of human lives in history. However, our lives are inextricably linked to them as without them, we would struggle to digest our food, or even grow food in the first place.

Imaging techniques provide an unprecedented snapshot of microbial cause and effect, enabling researchers to understand their properties so that they can prevent disease and improve treatments.
