Since the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 in December 2019, the scientific community has faced, arguably, one of its greatest challenges yet – to develop efficacious vaccines against the virus. In this endeavor, the COVID-19 pandemic has fueled advances in our understanding of vaccine immunology.
This has led to the discovery of promising vaccine targets as well as the development of novel formulations and vaccine technologies, all of which are now being applied more broadly in efforts to develop vaccines for other diseases.
