Antimicrobials have saved countless lives, and conditions that once were a death sentence are now treatable. However, a worrying and growing number of microbes are no longer thwarted by treatments as they are acquiring resistance. Scientists are consequently having to seek new drugs and strategies to tackle these rogue microbes.
