Webinar Summary

Lateral flow assays have been in the market for rapid point-of-care diagnostics for more than 30 years. Typically, lateral flow assay only detects one biomarker in one test. Despite having increasing demand for multiplexed systems which can detect multiple biomarkers simultaneously in one test, due to the limitations in the design of traditional membrane-based lateral flow assay, multiplexing is limited to a small number of biomarkers.

Hence, we will be focusing on multiplex lateral flow assay design and discuss the main factors which should be considered when building a multiplex lateral flow assay. Additionally, the complexities involved during multiplex assay design and physical limitations of reagents, membranes, and other components will be covered during the session.

Key Learning Objectives:
  • Factors affecting the assay design: Time, Temperature, Data/Mobility Requirements
  • Ways to overcome complexities in assay design
  • Technical challenges for the multiplex lateral flow assay design
  • Considerations for the limitations around reagents, membranes and other components in multiplex assay design
